Parents

If you’re a parent or an adult supporter of an LGBTQ youth, you likely have some questions. You have already taken a big step in this process by seeking out affirming resources for your loved one. We frequently have parents call us or stop through the office with questions about our services or about growing up as LGBTQ.  We’ve answered a few of the most common questions here, as well as provided some resources specific to you as a parent of a child who is LGBTQ.  As always, if you have any other questions please contact us at 704-344-8335 or schedule a time to meet with a member of our staff.

To ensure safety and confidentiality among our youth, all adult visitors other than parents must have prior clearance to attend any Time Out Youth program or activity.  Please contact a staff member if you are interested in visiting.

Parents or guardians are allowed to visit group in order to provide support for their child and to learn more about our programs.  However, in order to keep discussions safe and comfortable for all youth present, we ask that parents or guardians contact our office in advance when planning to accompany their child to a weekly discussion group.  Parents are limited to a maximum of one discussion group.
