Thanks to the David Bohnett Foundation, Time Out Youth has a dedicated computer room within our Programs department that provides LGBTQ+ youth ages 13–24 with safe, reliable access to technology and the internet. Click here to learn more about the David Bohnett Foundation!
Who uses the David Bohnett CyberCenter?
The CyberCenter is used by youth engaged with our Programs services—particularly young people who do not have dependable computer or internet access at home, and those navigating school and employment needs while seeking stability and safety. The CyberCenter is accessed through our low-barrier drop-in model, where youth can come without an appointment, connect with trusted adults, and utilize supportive resources in an affirming environment. Long-term, this will allow our young people to share more of their true, authentic selves—whether through the careers they choose or the educational endeavors they chase—falling directly in line with the David Bohnett Foundation’s desire to spark self-expression and individual development.
What youth use it for?
Youth use the CyberCenter for essential tasks that directly support academic progress and employment readiness, including:
- Completing homework and school assignments
- Researching colleges/training programs and completing applications
- Creating and updating resumes and cover letters
- Searching and applying for jobs
- Checking email and communicating with schools/employers
- Completing online forms and accessing essential resources (appointments, verifications, benefits-related documentation)
- Receiving basic digital literacy support as needed (document creation, online navigation)
