Since 1991, volunteers have been at the very core of who we are. Today, more than 500 volunteers help our youth every year.
Volunteers work with our Center in a variety of ways. Whether in-center with our youth, serving as administrative support, or supporting our community events across the Charlotte region, volunteers are the backbone of our operation. Discover the ways you can volunteer for TOY below:
Time Out Youth works diligently to provide a fun, comfortable, and protected space for youth in our drop-in center. Center Volunteers help create this atmosphere by offering love and support for our youth, as well as, enforcing Center policies and culture. Center Volunteers also help with the general upkeep of the Center to keep it clean and welcoming for all guests. Volunteers working directly with youth are carefully screened, trained, and asked to commit to volunteering a minimum of 2 times per month. All volunteers must be at least 25 years of age. Younger adults, minorities, transgender & non-binary individuals, LGBTQ+ Elders, and mental health professionals are strongly encouraged to apply.
Please note – Volunteers working directly with youth are asked to complete a background screening.
